Abstract
Mastitis is one of the most important diseases in dairy cattle in the worldwide with high cost for farmer and Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) is one of the most common causes for this disease. Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is an important agent in the hospital infections. Due to the increasing antibiotic resistance for this bacterium the aim of this study was to evaluate the antibiotic resistance of Staphylococcus aureus isolated from milk in cow that suspicious to mastitis in Ilam's dairy farms and the presence of mecA gene. This study was conducted on ??? milk samples from ? industrial dairy farms in ????. For evaluating of the antibiotic resistance, the disc diffusion test and for detecting of mecA gene PCR test were done. The results of this study showed that from ??? milk samples in a total, ?? samples were S. aureus isolates and ?? samples were positive for mecA gene. The highest resistance to antibiotics was penicillin (???%) and the least resistance was chloramphenicol (?.??%). The results of this study indicate that the prevalence of MRSA is too high in milk sample and this can be a health hazard Livestock. Therefore further studies on the typing of these isolates and compare with the isolates that isolated from hospital patients are necessary.
