Bovine leukemia virus (BLV) is an oncogenic B-lymphocytotropic retrovirus and structurally related to the human T cell leukemia virus type ? (HTLV-?). Some haematological changes have been reported within the different stages of BLV. Altered blood enzyme profile, as well as biochemical parameters were also reported by different researchers.
The aim of the present study was to biochemical evaluation of cattles serum infected with bovine leukemia virus. The experiment included ?? cows at various ages and body weight. On the basis of haematological results, the cows were divided into two groups: first group –BLV seropositive with normal lymphocyte; second group – BLV seropositive with increase lymphocyte. blood samples were collected from the jugular vein for Biochemical evaluation of cattles serum such as AST, GGT, calcium, Phosphor, BUN and Creatinin. Results indicated that The serum Phosphor concentration of persistent lymphocytosis (PL) Holstein cows (?.??±?.??) was significantly higher than that Non persistent lymphocytosis Holstein cows (?.??±?.??). Also, the The serum Calcium and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) concentration of persistent lymphocytosis (PL) Holstein cows (?.??±?.??) and (??.??±?.??) was significantly lower than that Non persistent lymphocytosis Holstein cows (?.?±?.??) and (??.??±?.??). There were no statistically significant changes in the other studied blood biochemical indices. Based on the result of present study, could be concluded that changes in some biochemical parameters in cattle infected with enzootic bovine leukosis virus in differentiation of bovine leukosis stages.
